Currently, (Jan 2007) he is working on various projects including TruPhone Converged Mobile GSM and VoIP technology, authoring IAX: Inter-Asterisk eXchange Version 2 Internet-draft, and IANA Registration for IAX Enumservice in the IETF, Voice & Data Integration, Global & Enterprise Internet Telephony, Wireless & Emergency Communication, and Voice/Data integration.

Ed Guy is a seasoned Computer Systems Architect & Systems Engineer with broad experience in network-based, large-scale & highly available voice and data systems. He possesses an established track record in determining customer business and technology needs, translating these needs into business models and software specifications, and prototyping and participating in the full deployment lifecycle. Guy can direct and contribute to the analysis, definition, design, implementation and integration in quality-managed (CMM/ISO) and iterative development environments, as well as provide an objective review of current projects.

Ed is Founder and CTO of e*MC Software, a project consulting and software development firm. In this role, he:

  • Provides leading-edge real-time communication solutions.
  • Develops and integrates emerging technologies to form innovative solutions.
  • Provides engineering and technical advice to product and service organizations.
His successes at e*MC Software include:
  • Providing and operating the technology for IPeerX -- The Global VoIP Peering eXchange (Acquired by XConnect),
  • Developing and distributed Windows-based Clients for MGCP and SIP VoIP systems while working closely with the IETF MGCP team.
  • Providing call control & IP interface engineering for the Videotron cable and Sprint-ION DSL VoIP networks.
  • VoIP systems engineering and detailed requirements development for Bellcore/Telcordia Technologies Call Manager and Data Management Products.
  • Architecting & leading a team to develop software to automatically build CORBA Data objects.
  • Mentoring the capturing of Business Processes to facilitate software development.
  • Performing CASE-tool development and customization to enable detailed requirements extraction from system models.

As CTO & later Chief Scientist of pulver.com, Guy created most of the current Free World Dialup (FWD ®) as well as deployed a VoIP system for a major North American telephony carrier based on open source software. In addition, he developed forwardOUT, a global application for the balanced sharing of phone lines, and provided the integration technology for BlueLava Software, an open-source Linux communication software distribution.

Guy's technical interests and background include operating systems, networking, Internet protocols, wireless, real-time Internet communication, middleware and TCP/IP programming, automation and distributed computing.

Guy frequently lectures at industry forums and at the university level. During his career, he has worked as an internal consultant, Systems Engineer and Architect at General Electric and Digital Equipment. Guy holds B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Syracuse University and also attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute at the graduate level. His doctoral research was in Circuit Simulation using a Distributed Computer.
